The HARCFL is HOSTING XRY Certification and Intermediate classes put on by the product manufacturer MSAB. XRY is software used to extract and analyze data from cellular phones. For more information about this class please visit https://www.msab.com/training/xry-certification/ REGISTRATION is done through XRY and course costs are paid directly to MSAB.

Cell Phone Investigations

The Cell Phone Investigations Course is designed for the first responder and investigators. This 1-day course offers hands-on operation of the UFED Touch, exposes students to logical extraction and data analysis. Students can expect to perform a number of hands-on logical extractions on various mobile devices with a variety of operating systems. Participants also create reports on findings and are exposed to the free UFED Reader and how to use that to multiply investigative efforts. Learn and share knowledge about iPhone, Android, and other smart phones.

Mobile Device Forensic Analysis

This 4-day course provides the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to preserve, acquire, and analyze data on iOS devices (iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad), as well as various Android devices. Students use forensically-sound tools and techniques to acquire and analyze potential evidence. Topics include identifying potential threats to data stored on devices, available imaging options, accessing locked devices, and the default folder structure. The forensic artifacts covered include device information, call history, voicemail, messages, web browser history, contacts, and photos. A few learning points are: Mobile device repair, device handling, device imaging, processing basics, and applications artifacts.

Blacklight Tool Training

Over a period of two days, the BlackLight Tool Training course will offer a hands-on investigative approach toward learning techniques for authenticating, analyzing and reporting digital evidence found on computers and smartphone devices. Coursework covers the use of BlackLight, a comprehensive forensic analysis tool that is designed to help investigators conduct digital forensic examinations on all four major platforms (Windows, Android, iPhone and Mac OS X). After a brief introduction to MacQuisition, BlackBag’s imaging tool, students will triage a full case and learn the advanced functions of BlackLight though instructor-led exercises and hands-on practical case studies.

Cell Phone and Loose Media Kiosk Course

This three hour course will teach investigators how to analyze cellular phones, thumb drives, CDs/DVDs, and media cards using the RCFL's tools of the Cell Phone Kiosk and also the Loose Media Kiosk. This course teaches the basiscs of seizing this evidence and then how to process and analyze its contents. Instead of waiting for Forensic Examiners to analyze your evidence, you know can do it on your own using the tools you learn in this class. This is a hands-on course where you will do it before you leave!
