Federal Jury Convicts Last Two Defendants in Prescription Fraud Conspiracy
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A federal jury today convicted two defendants in a long-running investigation into a prescription drug billing scheme involving a Haleyville, Ala.-based pharmacy, Northside Pharmacy doing business as Global Compounding Pharmacy. Florida Man Pleads Guilty in Multi-Million Dollar Medicare Fraud Scheme
BOSTON – A Florida man pleaded guilty today to his role in a multi-million dollar Medicare fraud scheme involving durable medical equipment. Nathan LaParl, 34, of Boca Raton, Fla., pleaded guilty to one count of receiving kickbacks in connection with a federal health care program and one count of violating the HIPAA statute.

Colombian National Pleads Guilty to $109 Million Medicare Fraud Scheme
BOSTON – A Colombian national residing in Lighthouse Beach, Fla., pleaded guilty today in federal court in Boston in connection with submitting more than $109 million in false and fraudulent claims for durable medical equipment (DME) such as arm, back, knee and shoulder braces.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Seven individuals have been charged in the Northern District of Alabama with a $41 million health care fraud, drug distribution, and kickback conspiracy run out of Northern Alabama Pain Specialists (“NAPS”), a clinic owned and operated by the husband and wife. The announcements are part of a federal law enforcement effort to crack down on health care fraud nationwide.

FBI Announces Arrest of Huntsville Man on Numerous Charges
HUNTSVILLE, AL—Special Agent in Charge Johnnie Sharp, Jr., announced that Deondre Cleveland Day, 20, of Huntsville, was arrested today, March 6, 2020, without incident by members of the North Alabama Violent Crime Task Force (NAVCTF), the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force (GCRFTF) and the Huntsville Police Department Anticrime Unit.
