5/31/2011: Ohio Couple Receives Prison Sentence for Sexually Abusing a Minor — Miami Valley RCFL Examined Digital Evidence During Investigation
As the FY10 RCFL Annual Report illustrated, sexual predators who prey on children come from all walks of life. A former soccer coach and his girlfriend are both heading to prison for three years for engaging in sexual acts with a 13-year old girl — the Miami Valley RCFL (MVRCFL) examined digital evidence lawfully seized during the investigation, which included a computer and cell phones.
MVRCFL Examiners extracted information which was provided to prosecutors, and shed light on the sexual relationship between the 13-year old victim, and Randall Bowling, 34, and Andrea Mytton, 33. The victim played on Bowling's soccer team where he once served as a coach for the Middletown Soccer Club. This provided Bowling the opportunity to befriend the family and gain further access to the victim.
The sexual abuse was reported by the girl's parents on November 24, 2010. An investigation was launched, during which computers and related media were brought to the MVRCFL for examination. Approximately two weeks after their arrest, charges were filed against Bowling and Mytton on December 2, 2010. According to Preble County Sheriff's detectives, the sexual abuse began in March 2009. Press reports stated the victim was pregnant and Bowling was the father.
